Brankica Janković, a long-time expert in the field of law, currently holds the position of Commissioner for protection of the equality of the Republic of Serbia. She was elected to this position for the first time in 2015, and was re-elected 2020 by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
Before she was elected to this position, she held the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, employment and social policy of the Republic of Serbia. She was also the director of the Gerontological Center Belgrade, the largest service for the elderly in the Western Balkans.
In her capacity as Secretary of State, she was the head of the Negotiation Team for Chapter 19 (Social Policy and employment) in the process of EU accession negotiations, president of three government councils: for children, the elderly persons and persons with disabilities, and led several state delegations.
During her career she organized and participated in several hundreds of conferences, and is also the founder of the Regional Network of Bodies for equality of Southeast Europe, as well as many other initiatives, such as WOBA. She is a mentor to young people and guest lecturer at several programs.
Brankica Janković is a guest lecturer on the subject Multicultural Social Work – Policies and Practices anti-discrimination at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, and also at the Higher Studies security of the National Defense School of the Army of the Republic of Serbia.
She is one of the founders of the UNESCO network of officials for the fight against racism and discrimination, a member SECCA and EQUINET.
