The Path to Sustainable Media
There is a drumbeat of bad news facing media in 2018, from financial pressures of a contracting ad market to platform domination to governmental pressure and the rapid spread of disinformation. Media in the United States and Europe is facing a bruising year in which many hopes -- the pivot to video, distributed media models, free content -- are being dashed. But there are also signs of optimism, as publishers return to the basics of brand differentiation, audience loyalty and diversified revenue.
